A call to the motel to book the accessible room went well to start with. The room was available, the tariff was ok but then I advised the owner I had a Mobility Service Dog. That was the end of the booking process as he advised that he would not allow dogs. Fair enough I said, but this is a service dog and has the same access rights as a guide dog, we have stayed in 11 motels in the last 3 weeks and all were happy with the dog. His mind could not be changed and he went on to say that if the dog was allowed in then his guests would put a bad report on Tripadvisor. Guess what, you have got a bad review and you are also breaking a law by refusing entry to a Mobility Service Dog. We ended up booking and staying at the Otorohanga Holiday Park and the owners were totally happy to have us. Oh, and he told me I would not like the accessible room as it was right on the main road and noisy.
