Rapaura Watergardens. Awarded 'Garden of Significance' by the New Zealand Gardens Trust. Rapaura presents visitors with New Zealand's nature. A landscaped wilderness of bush and blooms, lily ponds and a trickling stream threaded by paths. There are a few picnic areas, and an excellent cafe.
The whole gardens may not be accessible for visitors with mobility difficulties, however there are several acres, and beautiful paths and gardens.
Typically a wheelchair user who can walk a few steps.
Great access for young children traveling in pushchairs.

We called ahead to check for disability access and were told that entry was free for anyone with a disability because they would not be able to access the whole gardens. We really enjoyed our visit and found the paths and walkways surprisingly easy to navigate even with wheelchair or walker. Afterwards we enjoyed chatting to the staff in the restaurant who were very helpful and friendly. The gardens are a very peaceful and enchanting place, took some fantastic photographs, my partner (who doesn't usually enjoy garden visits) said it was the best gardens he had been to.
